Church Covenant.

LONG FORM

The mission of the church is to:

  • Witness to the good news of God’s love for the world in Jesus
  • Support and encourage people by worship, teaching and other ministries to be God’s people in the world
  • Seek to build the communities in which we live by our lives, our involvement and our prayers

The church commitment

We commit ourselves to these church practices:

    1. Gather regularly as a church to worship together and encourage each other
    2. Be engaged in support of the church with our time, money and cheerful, dependable service
    3. Listen and pray together to discern God’s leading for our church, and support our leaders as we seek to move forward
    4. Embrace all people, showing unconditional welcome and generous hospitality
    5. Look out for one another, with care and courage

The personal commitment

I also commit myself personally to:

  1. Let God teach me maturity, wisdom and holiness
  2. Practise justice and kindness in all my daily relationships
  3. Let truth, peace and love always guide my speaking
  4. Share in Christ’s mission. This means I will:
    1. Share the good news of God’s love for the world in Jesus and my journey of faith,
    2. Seek to build the communities in which I live by my life, my involvement and my prayers
    3. Grow as a disciple and encourage others, by baptism and maturing in the journey of faith, to become wholehearted disciples

SHORT FORM

As followers of Jesus Christ, we commit ourselves to Seymour Baptist for this year.

We commit ourselves to these church practices:

  1. Gather regularly
  2. Support the church
  3. Pray, and seek to discern God’s leading
  4. Practise authentic church values – forgiving, accepting, loving

I also commit myself personally to:

  1. Grow in Christ
  2. Serve Christ
    1. In my relationships
    2. In my community
    3. In my responsibilities
